Frequently asked questions
Is the picked color accurate on a Retina display?
Yes. SeventyColor uses macOS's built-in color loupe (NSColorSampler), the same one system tools use: it reads the real value of the displayed pixel, HiDPI and Retina included, with no approximation.
Which format should I use: HEX, RGB or HSL?
It depends on the job. HEX for the web and most design tools, RGB for photo and print, HSL when you want to nudge a hue by hand. The default format is one click away in settings and applies to the copied code and the history alike.
How does the color history work?
Your last 8 picked colors stay visible as swatches under the main card, kept only on this Mac and never sent anywhere. Click a swatch to copy its code again instantly.
Does it work with multiple displays?
Yes. macOS's system loupe works on any display connected to the Mac: one mouse move is all it takes to pick a color on another monitor.
What's the difference between the website version and the App Store one?
It's the same app. On this website: a free 7-day trial, then a 4.90 CHF one-time license with automatic updates. On the App Store: direct purchase, updates through Apple. Pick whichever suits you.
